As the founder and managing director of Secret Dalmatia, Alan is personally dedicated to the vision of bringing the hidden beauties of Croatia to every Client. Alan has a deep connection to his country, so after finishing his university education at the New England School of Arts & Design in Boston, he decided to return to Croatia. The decision to found Secret Dalmatia followed an epiphany he had whilst wandering around Bribirska Glavica, one of the most important archaeological sites in the country. As the sunset settled in the distance, he stumbled upon two open sarcophagi and thought: "I must show this to the world!” Few months later, in 2005, he put together his passion, experience, and knowledge to create Secret Dalmatia and he has been dedicated to it full-time ever since.

Secret Dalmatia is all about protection

Our passion for showing Croatia to the world stems from our immense respect for its known and unknown heritage, natural and cultural, material and immaterial. Croatian tourism relies greatly on this heritage, and as sustainable travel is of great importance to us, we find that remaining actively involved in its research and protection is both a way of giving back and investing into the future.

Every year, Secret Dalmatia partakes in regional projects intended to further preserve, research or promote Croatian heritage. We help both professionals and enthusiasts who care deeply about our land, wildlife and sea as well as about our historical and ethnological legacy. Our support is either through donations or simply through lending our voice to publicize threats to our heritage, like the lack of preservation and looting of archaeological sites, illegal bird and wildlife hunting...

To date, several projects funded from our donations resulted in extraordinary discoveries, such as the underwater Liburnian settlement dated to 3.500 years ago, discovered in collaboration with the University of Zadar.
