I am back in Australia and back at work. The 8 weeks of holidays are a distant memory.
With the Croatia group trip, in short all went well. No dramas apart from the petty stuff with regard to rooms in Dubrovnik.
What was liked:
Day trips all good
Trogir, Zadar, Plitvice – all to plan. Zlatko good as driver and info, and the tour guides excellent.
Also Dubrovnik a hit. Travel on route via Brela – 2 hour swim was loved. Booked accommodation for next year at Brela. Also lunch in Tucepi old town in biokovo. Friend prepared a Peka for 14. Unfortunately the minibus could not go all the way so we all walked – even the bus driver, about 500 metres.
Ston was a highlight – oysters and mussels on the little island. Recommended for others.
Korcula also loved – outdoor entertainment, Toni the guide was a local celebrity. He even sang a few songs at the dinner in “Mala Capja”. I went to check it out two weeks before and the owner and his family really put on a feast for us.
Hvar – also a standout. A pity that 2 couples were hung over from previous night and could not travel. The lunch in the abandoned village was fabulous, winery also really lovely, we bought wines for the ones that did not make it. Would have like perhaps a stay in Hvar to sample the night clubs, but otherwise speed boat option was great.
Transfers all well – even with the late changes and ad hoc requests.
What could have been better:
Kornati day trip was just a little too long. Perhaps a faster boat. But the boat was comfortable and we were looked after well – including lunch, drinks, the swim was highlight. But we got back after dark.
Accommodation at at Raddison Blu – fantastic, but a little out of town. We walked it but others preferred the Luxe.
I am planning another trip. With a boat plus more island accom. Perhaps you can recommend a boat. I did get some contacts but the cruisers are too expensive – prefer yacht or catamaran.
Thanks again for a wonderful trip. I think the group over drank the quota at a couple of places.
